Born on September 30, 1928, Elie Wiesel was a humanist, philosopher and author. He was popularly known to be the lead spokesperson on the Holocaust during the second world war.

After surviving the Nazi death camps during that time, Wiesel wrote the internationally known memoir “Night“. This was followed by two more novels, Dawn in 1961 and Day in 1962. He later became an activist who spoke so strongly against injustice, indifference and persecution.

On July 2, 2016, Elie Wiesel died at the age of 87 in his home in Manhattan.
